Please refer to our CNET Forums policies for details. As you can see many components of Windows will cease to function if you turn off IPv6, including Homegroups. You can check to see if IPv6 is enabled on your computer, click on Start and type in Network into the search box. It's a goofy system, but it's supposed to work by giving that key to the other pc and they can join in theory anyways.
The desktop cannot join and gives the ‘Windows cannot connect to a Homegroup on this computer'. Do they see each other under start button & network? How do I get to that list?
Each and every time there's an Update, W10 seems to think it's a frigging great idea to wipe your sharing and home group settings, forcing you to go through each and Windows No Longer Detects A Homegroup On This Network When I connect them to a homegroup network, they each bring the homegroup password. I would hope somebody from Microsoft can help.Between this issue and the fact that you can't synch favorites on EDGE, I can no longer recommend the Win 10 upgrade to anyone I'm talking about your "full computer name". I have a Homegroup in operation between the two laptops. After being a part of the Insider Program since the start (early Enterprise builds) I think I finally hit my breaking point with the Insider Preview. Please don't tell me that it detects the Cisco equipment and thinks I'm on a business network. I decided to play around with my router's settings and decided to make a Static IP address on my network for each computer.
You should see computers at start button and network. On Windows 10, go to Settings > Time & language and adjust time as needed. Anybody have any ideas how to totally delete an old Homegroup and start over. On the laptop at "Network and Sharing Center" > "Change adapter settings" I show my Wireless Network Connection and a "Local Area Connection" (LAN).

Since laptops are mobile it makes more sense to leave or join existing networks and change it if you're on a unknown public network such as a hotel.
